YOUNG.
This is how people usually describe the Municipal Mayor of Rizal. She is identified as one of the few millennial mayors in the country. While for many, age means experience, for her, age means the opportunity to share herself, her resources, and her heart to help others. Far from the eyes of the public, before she became Mayor, she had been providing technical services to the Local Government Unit of Rizal as Municipal Administrator—a position that entails a lot of heart and courage. For her, her stint as Municipal Administrator under the administration of her father, then-Mayor Lito Andres, had become a sterling opportunity to be shadowed by a passionate and dedicated leader.
CONQUEROR.
Despite her age, she was able to carry out her duties and responsibilities and was able to conquer and overwhelm all, even the most shaking challenges in life like a seasoned one. In 2020, who would have thought that the world would stop due to COVID-19. For more than two years, we have been facing a battle against the unseen. As a pandemic mayor, she made very tough decisions which mostly entailed the welfare and protection of her kababayan. Some of these decisions were unpopular and needed strong political will to implement like strict COVID-19 lockdown rules, and even a post mortem antigen testing for suspected COVID deaths only to arrest the fast contagion of the virus in our community.
Nonetheless, she remained true to her dedication in providing the necessary support for all sectors of our society especially during times that our people needed them the most. She indeed rose from fateful circumstances and proved that a woman can definitely wield power from compassion, selflessness and sometimes isolation. She braved the most challenging fight as COVID-19 mayor and introduced out-of-the box, scientific, data-based solutions in winning the town’s battle against COVID-19 such as but not limited to the distribution in five waves of food packs to all quarantined households, free antigen and RT-PCR testing in both laboratory and mobile settings, institutionalization of the COVID Action Team, distribution of COVID recovery package to COVID-19 survivors and relatives of COVID-19 casualties, revamping of municipal evacuation centers to TTMFs, and many others.
FIRSTS.
As a woman of many firsts, Mayor Trina is the first woman to be elected as mayor of Rizal, Nueva Ecija;
first Kabataan to hold the highest local elective position in the municipality; first elective official to run unopposed in 2019; first Mayor to experience a pandemic after 100 years.
AWARDS.
During her time as Mayor, the municipality received the prestigious Seal of Good Local Governance in 2019 and 2020-2022 which now places our humble town on a pedestal in the Hall of Fame. The SGLG is the ultimate yard stick that measures an LGU’s excellence in governance and public service. In her time, the municipality also faced the golden age of investment as small and large investors come to do business and put trust on a red-tape free government. Also, the municipality has its reputation of being child-friendly due to her astounding concern for children. And, just recently, Rizal has been conferred as the first municipality in Nueva Ecija to be drug-cleared.
